Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) are the cameras, radar, lidar, and ultrasonic sensors that power modern safety features β automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and more.
These sensors are aimed with extraordinary precision. A camera or radar that is off by even a fraction of a degree β or a few millimeters β can misjudge distances and react too late, or not at all. After any collision, glass replacement, or suspension work, ADAS sensors must be recalibrated to the manufacturer's specification so they "see" the road correctly again.

Sensors don't have to be visibly damaged to be out of alignment. Calibration is required any time a sensor β or the panel it mounts to β is moved, replaced, or disturbed. Common triggers include:
